Since the beginning of my career in 1981, I have been involved in numerous committees to further Midwifery in the state of Texas. I have been the Organizer of many Midwifery Conferences to further the educational opportunities for midwives and trained many student/apprentice midwives who have gone on to be successful midwives. Some have private practices and some own and run birth centers.
I have also been involved in many legislative efforts to develop and promote laws that would make midwifery safe for Texas consumers.
I have also assisted in the organizing The Gathering, which is a conference that brings together licensed midwives and nurse midwives for the purpose of developing relationships and educational opportunities.
